Cameras in the Classroom Survey
The Texas Education Agency annually collects data through surveying local educational agencies (LEAs) regarding the requests each LEA receives for cameras in the classroom for a self-contained setting or other special education setting.
The survey collects data for each LEA in the following categories:
- number of total requests
- number of withdrawn requests
- number of approved requests
- number of denied requests, including the reasons for the denials.
Mandatory Data Reporting Reminder
Texas Education Code, Section 29.022(q), provides that "[t]he agency shall collect data relating to requests made [in accordance with Section 29.022] and actions taken by a school district or open-enrollment charter school in response to a request, including the number of requests made, authorized, or denied."

2021-2022 SY Cameras in the Classroom Survey
The deadline for completing the required survey for the School Year (SY) 2021-2022 is August 26, 2022. Only one survey is completed for each school district or open-enrollment charter school. The data collected pertain to all requests for cameras in the classroom that were made during the school year (SY) 2021–2022 and the school district or open-enrollment charter school's response to each request.
