Subject:  College and Career Readiness School Models Planning Year Application Available

Campuses are invited to apply for planning year designation for College and Career Readiness School Models. District administrators and campus administrators are encouraged to apply if they are considering opening one of these school models to receive specialized technical assistance.

College and Career Readiness School Models (CCRSM)
The Texas College and Career Readiness School Models (CCRSM) Network is a network of Early College High Schools (ECHS), Texas Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (T-STEM) Academies, Industry Cluster Innovative Academies (ICIA), and Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools   (P-TECH). These initiatives, led by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), blend high school and college coursework to help historically underserved and at-risk students develop technical skills, earn dual college credit, and pursue in-demand career paths.

New ECHS, P-TECH/ICIA, and T-STEM Planning Year Application

October 2018 CCRSM Planning Year Application Campuses interested in opening a CCRSM campus apply to be a planning year designee. January-December 2019 CCRSM Planning Year Planning year designees work with the Technical Assistance provider to prepare for 2020-2021 school year implementation. January 2020 CCRSM Designation Application Successful planning year designees apply for provisional designation to implement in the 2020-2021 school year.

Districts seeking designation for a new ECHS, P-TECH/ICIA, or T-STEM must apply during the 2018-2019 school year to become part of the 2019-2020 planning year.

The planning year application for NEW campuses interested in becoming an ECHS, P-TECH/ICIA, or
T-STEM Academy will open on Monday, October 15, 2018.

Applications for the planning year must be submitted to the TEA through the online application on or before 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST), Friday, November 16, 2018. Applicants will be notified in Spring 2019 if they have been accepted into the planning year process.

Application Technical Assistance
A technical assistance webinar will be held to provide information regarding the planning year application. Participation in the technical assistance webinar is not required; however, attendance is strongly encouraged. The webinar will provide potential applicants information about how to access and navigate the online, web-based application system.

Questions regarding the completion of the planning year application should be submitted in writing to ccrsm@tea.texas.gov. Answers will be provided during the webinar (which will be recorded) and in an FAQ document.

2018-2019 CCRSM Designees (ECHS, P-TECH/ICIA, or T-STEM)
Campuses CURRENTLY operating a designated campus or school for the 2018-2019 school year, will have the opportunity to submit a renewal designation application as either an ECHS, P-TECH/ICIA or T-STEM for the 2019-2020 school year in January 2019. A “To the Administrator Addressed” letter in January 2019 will provide additional details.
