Foundation High School Program Survey
March 5, 2018
TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:
SUBJECT: Foundation High School Program Survey
American Institutes for Research (AIR) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) were awarded a five-year (2017–2022) partnership grant from the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) at the U.S. Department of Education to examine the long-term impacts of Texas’ Foundation High School Program on students’ postsecondary success. The purpose of this letter is to ask for your participation in a brief survey as part of the larger study.
About the Survey
As part of this study, AIR will survey all districts in the state to understand how districts continue to promote and implement the Foundation High School Program and support middle school students and staff with endorsement selection.
How Will My District Be Involved?
Beginning on March 6, 2018, AIR will survey districts via an online survey. The survey link will be sent electronically to the district email address provided in AskTED. The email will contain a survey link and instructions suggesting who in the district should participate in the survey. The survey will take approximately 15–25 minutes to complete, and the administration window will remain open until May 4, 2018. Your participation is voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential to the extent permitted by law.
Why Should My District Be Involved?
As a part of this study, TEA is seeking to gain an understanding of the continued implementation of the Foundation High School Program graduation requirements at the district level. District personnel offer unique and valuable insight into the methods used to ensure implementation of the Foundation High School Program as well as how local needs were considered. Although your district’s participation is voluntary, data provided from the perspective of districts may help inform the direction of future legislation.
How Will Survey Responses be Used?
With your participation, we expect that this study will provide critical feedback about the ongoing implementation and impact of the Foundation High School Program and will enable TEA and the Texas Legislature to make informed decisions about future high school graduation requirements.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. Please contact Ellie Hanlon at 512-463-3326 or Ellie.Hanlon@tea.texas.gov with any questions related specifically to this survey.
Sincerely,
Penny Schwinn
