Subject: Texas Public Charter Schools Survey

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is interested in learning more about the practices of public charter schools. To gather information from as many public charter schools as possible, TEA is conducting an online survey of all Texas public charter school administrators to identify best or promising practices of charter school campuses within the state.  

The purpose of this letter is to ask for your participation in an online survey. Your participation is voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential to the extent permitted by law.

About the Survey

TEA has contracted with Safal Partners to conduct the online survey to gather information about a series of topics which include, but are not limited to:

• charter school campus administrator background;
• organizational-level practices;
• instructional practices;
• instruction of educationally disadvantaged students;
• instruction of low-performing students;
• approaches for attracting, recruiting, retaining, enrolling, and serving students;
• approaches for attracting, recruiting, and retaining highly-qualified instructors; and
• school climate.

How Will My School Be Involved? 

On February 12, 2018, Safal Partners will send an email to each charter school with a unique survey link and instructions suggesting who in the district should participate in the survey. The survey will take approximately 30–40 minutes to complete, and the administration window will remain open until March 9, 2018.

Why Should My School Be Involved?

We expect that this survey will be able to provide critical feedback about public charter schools in Texas. The information collected from a range of charter schools will contribute to future programmatic decisions and will aid the state in identifying and disseminating best or promising practices of successful, high-quality charter schools.
